Art of Noticing

Experiences in attention, curiosity and connection

Art of Noticing is a guided experience based in mindfulness and present moment awareness. It is an invitation to notice the world around you and your body’s internal landscape. This experience prioritizes curiosity, creativity, and non-judgemental observation.

Approach & Influences

Art of Noticing is inspired by a lifetime of personal and professional experiences. Through travel, volunteering, side hustle opportunities, and learning from and alongside various people in the disability, accessibility, and mindfulness communities I’ve seen a space that I wanted to create for myself and others.

Art of Noticing is informed by the restorative and evidence-based practices of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as well as approaches to slow looking and sustained observation.

Contemporary artists and authors who have influenced the development of the experience include Eiko Otake, Lauri Lynnxe Murphy, Sam Winston, Ruth Broadbent, Flora Bowley, Shari Tishman, and Jill O’Bryan. Their work offers different ways of considering attention to the body, breath, movement, environment, materials and the process of making itself — they are living proof that art is a reparative act.
